Early last week I was lucky enough to attend an intimate dining experience thanks to Citi in order to celebrate their ‘Rethink banking’ brand campaign.
The campaign aims to inspire everyday Australians to appreciate the feeling that comes from making a good choice. Like when you order the best dish at the table or, when you know your money is working hard for you with your banking. Let me tell you on this particular night at Bentley Restaurant and Bar, I did order the best dishes and even watched some of them get made right before my eyes by head chef, Brent Savage. We were also accompanied by one of McWilliam’s wines top sommeliers on the night who paired each dish with something extra special to drink.
From the seating placements to the food and the company, the night was planned to perfection and really made me appreciate how much an evening spent indulging in some mid-week tasty morsels can invigorate you for the remainder of the week.
The evening began with a demonstration from Brett on how to make Honey bugs with Sea Blight and Buttermilk (a dish I could totally not cook at home by myself but delicious all the same). This was also an option for the entree, however, I couldn’t pass up the Alpine Salmon with Malt, Mandarin and Black Sausage Crumbs – a piece of artwork on a plate. It was smooth, creamy and cooked to perfection with just the right balanced texture in the art formation of the black sausage crumb.
For main, I could not pass up the steak, especially a Rangers Valley Wagyu Skirt Steak with Fennel, Mustard and Olive. It gave me all the iron I required and the fulfillment only a spectacularly cooked piece of beef can provide.
Best part, the sweet part and this was by far the signature dish in my mind (although desert nearly always is!), Violet Ice-Cream with Cocoa Honeycomb and Blueberry – OK stop drooling now. This dish not only looked divine but was one of the best sweets I’ve ever had. Unique, original, light but rich and the perfect way to cap off an exceptional evening of fine dining.
When it comes to fine dining you can’t go wrong with an LDB and this one from Zara with a peplum 60’s vibe is perfect with ankle boots and emerald green accessories. One of my favourite colours of the season, emerald green provides the perfect pop of colour against a black backdrop. I have lived in these boots this season, comfy and sexy they are the ideal height with gold detail to tie in with the necklaces from Mimco and Country Road clutch. If heading to Bentley’s at night, leave the shades at home!
It’s easy to see why Citi chose this particular eatery to showcase why dining out and enjoying the simple pleasures is super important to everyday living. So I challenge you, why not dine out a little more often…
Lotsa love, LM X x
