Deck the halls

From the title of this post you’re probably expecting a Christmas extravaganza and while my space is small my spirit for this season is big.

Since not being home in Queensland for the build up to the silly season, I’ve certainly missed all the trimmings that come with this festive time of year, so I thought it was time for a change. This has been a big year both personally and professionally and to top it all off my best friend/love  moved to Sydney and we settled in to our little beachside villa in Bronte. One problem we encountered, we both love Christmas but how could we possibly give our apartment some Christmas cheer without having an abundance of red, gold and green to attempt to store afterwards. One problem only requires one solution, Target – my favourite one stop shop for fashion, lifestyle and homewares.

When bringing something new into the home a colour scheme is important and we decided that in order to make our home feel like our version of Christmas – cool and calm and to have longevity with what we choose we opted for a teal, pink and silver theme. Target has various colour schemes for Christmas and not just the traditional and I immediately gravitated towards this scheme which I felt we could easily incorporate into our home with items we already owned and give our small space a sense of Christmas spirit.

We started with a wreath and it trickled out from there with subtle hints of Christmas scattered throughout the apartment. A beautiful tree ornament and reindeer made the perfect accompaniments to our bedroom with our crop white finishings and pastel blue throw pillows (also from Target) we felt the decorations complimented what we already had and added the desired affect of Christmas essence to the room.

Due to the fact I love food so much, I’m sure you can all guess what room is my favourite in any house… the kitchen! I love a good kitchen, I need a good kitchen and to coincide with teal coloured Christmas I wanted to revamp my kitchen, Christmas style. Christmas to me equals summer and nothing says summer more than a pineapple, so once I’d found the perfect pineapple lolly jar and tea-towel the teal dinnerware just fell into place, bringing a sense of summer vibes and Christmas cheer into my favourite room of what we dub, ‘the beachside villa’.

Finally, one of my favourite pieces from Target that will definitely stay in its new place on the coffee table well beyond Christmas is the deer antlers. They add a certain structure and heavy yet hipster vibe to a somewhat basic coffee table and when paired with a few of my favourite things like my Collection by M personalised candle and my Oroton notebook that I use to jot down all my late night blogging ideas, it’s the perfect piece to complete the Christmas puzzle.

Writing an interiors post for me this week was somewhat different to the food and fashion yarn’s I’m used to churning out on Livvy May but this is a post to challenge you all. No mater what size place you live in or what your priorities are for the end of the year – a little Christmas cheer can bring life and colour into people’s homes and lives and that’s why we continue to celebrate each and every year, for the joy the season can bring. So tis’ the season to be jolly and to experience a Christmas with Target – trust me, I took the bf shopping and he actually loved it.

Merry Christmas lovelies. Lotsa love, LM x x
