I’ve often said Bondi is hard to beat and I’m afraid to say it again, but it is! Especially now summer is well and truly here.
When the weather is scorching, the waves are crashing and you’re looking for somewhere to kick back with a brewski, some grub and watch the afternoon pass you by, you really needn’t look any further than brilliant Bondi. It boasts unreal eateries, drinking holes you want to see and be seen at and a babe or ten. I’ve written stories previously on the blog about what to do in the bubble once you’re there. However, after spending most of my holiday’s horizontal on Bondi beach, I thought I’d fill you in on some more places to wine and dine at and naturally, what to wear.
For a brunch that packs a punch, you can’t go past Bondi Hardware. The food is scrumptious and it boasts an impressive booze list that is perfect for any hair of the dog situation. I suggest for something rich and filling opt for the Bloody Hardware; chilli infused vodka with a house made black juice of beetroot, tomatoes, red chilli, lemon, orange, horseradish & chipotle Tabasco. Or for something lighter and a little more lady-like, the Hardware Fizz (Limoncello, lemon, vanilla sugar and Prosecco) is a delightful way to start the day! For a healthier brekkie option, the Mecicali Brunch Quesadilla is divine or create your own dish with the D.I.Y Free Range Eggs Board. It’s the perfect spot to catch up with friends, feast and indulge in some people watching.
After brunch/lunch if you want to keep the party going, head down to The Bucket List. It’s real estate gold with views of the beach that stretch from South to North Bondi and has nibbles galore (both the food and babe variety)! There is nothing better than cooling down with a refreshing cider after baking on the beach and The Bucket List is the place to be. It’s often a little packed and sometimes a bit ‘showy’ but essentially that’s what Bondi is all about and those who live there know it and those that visit, learn it.
For dinner, there’s a new place in town and I was delighted to accompany my gorgeous friend, Brooke (a Bondi local) to The Neighbourhood. We began with refreshing cocktails; Brooke is an espresso martini girl all the way, whereas I prefer something a little sweeter. I was super impressed with the staff who talked me through some of the cocktail options, more suited to my palette and then it was basically a matter of bottoms up as we sipped on our cocktails and selected the food. What I like about The Neighbourhood was the range of the food and the option to have a meal for one or small share plates amongst two or more. We opted for the latter and weren’t disappointed. With popcorn Cajun prawns, pulled pork quesadillas and sweet potato salad, our smorgasbord had us licking our lips for more.
Let’s chat fashion… Bondi is a place where anything goes and while this look is quite dressy, it works because you can be as dressed up or as dressed down as you like as long as you feel comfortable and confident. Bondi is a place where confidence is a must and I knew I couldn’t go wrong with a basic black and white ensemble, with a pop of orange lip from ModelCo, unique eyewear from Quay Eyeware and an embellished necklace from Diva.
So, I know you’re thinking enough about Bondi and for today its #rantover but there will be more write ups on this wicked hot spot, you can guarantee it! Let me know your fave Bondi hangout?
Until next time, lotsa love, Livvy May X x
