Roaring red, the year ahead

In the words of T.S. Eliot, “for last year’s words belong to last year’s language and next year’s words await another voice”, it’s a brand new year and one in which to adopt a new voice preaching passionate new discoveries and an abundance of adventures.

Since the New Year rolled in, my inbox has been inundated with e-newsletters from companies and acquaintances asking me if I’d set my new year’s resolutions. Well I haven’t and to be honest, I’m not sure I believe in them. What I do believe in, is what works for you! Each individual is different and while this year (2014) feels no different from last year, I have adopted a somewhat different approach to it.

And this is only two of my brood, soon there will be six!

Firstly, I count my blessings. Blessings for all that have been in the previous year and what’s to come. Already an aunty of four, there will be two new additions to my brood in 2014 and despite the fact they all live in Queensland, no bond could possibly be stronger. Something you realise when you’re able to spend quality time with those you love over Christmas.

Secondly, adopting something that is just for you. We are constantly attempting to live up to other people’s expectations of us or trying to please everyone. This is something I am often guilty of and in the New Year I believe in relishing in the simple things, so in turn I can be a better friend, daughter, aunty, sister, colleague etc. It can be as simple as my morning training session down Bronte Beach or sitting alone at a café reading my favourite fashion magazine. It’s the little things that feed the soul.

The gorgeous and talented Tracey Johnson

My gorgeous friend, Jamie turns to cooking and another lovely friend of mine, Tracey takes on her own mini projects away from her day to day job. In fact as a photographer one of those projects was to conduct more photo shoots that fulfill her own passions, like the gorgeous shoot she did with me in my new favourite Cameo the Label red dress.

Finally, it’s to chase adventure. I don’t think I’ll have the opportunity to travel much this year as the majority of my spare time away from work will consist of visiting home and building strong aunty bonds with the new babies in my family.

photoHowever, I do have exciting new adventures in store for Livvy May. I’ll still be dining at every hot new café and restaurant in town but you can expect more lifestyle based posts. Whether it is beauty or health inspired, I’ll be bringing you the latest news on the things you want to know about. For those planning a holiday mid-year, I’ll be sharing posts about my past travel experiences, including where to go, what to eat, what to wear. The site will also feature behind the scenes imagery, Q& A’s, videos, hints and tips and naturally, more food then you could possibly consume and too much fashion, you won’t know where to start. So bring on 2014, bring on positive change, growth and bigger and better things for Livvy May and why not start by showcasing the city I love so much, in a label I love so much, captured by a lady I love so much!

Enjoy Sydney, Cameo the Label and images by Tracey Johnson. Oh and enjoy the year ahead! Much love, Livvy May X x
