Transitioning

I always know the seasons in Sydney are starting to change when City2Surf rolls by.

There’s a warmth in the air and the crisp coolness that we’ve adapted to over June and July is starting to lift. It’s strange but it somewhat symbolises new life as we can wear skirts again and knitted jumpers are packed into storage bags for the following winter. Once the race is done (which it was on the weekend) I can breathe a sigh of relief and soothe my weary muscles AND (best part) plan my outfits for spring. Time to go shopping!

But, what are the essentials one needs in order to transition to the warmer period while still keeping any chills at bay and adopting an appropriate tran-seasonal look. My three picks are a lightweight trench, white tank top, neutral footwear and a black midi skirt or casual jeans. It’s all about the layers and this look is sophisticated chicness at its finest. Add a burgundy lip and nail and some gold accessories and the look is complete.

Monochrome will always be in style and compliments any figure if the correct shapes are selected for your frame. I have a more slight upper body as opposed to my bottom half so a singlet in a T-Bar style accentuates my shoulders and adds shape to my chest. Whereas I’m better off covering more of my bottom half so I can create a longer leg (illusion) and also my backside which can sometimes pop a little Kim K style. You can pick up great basic tops from Glassons or AS Colour and Zara is also starting to stock all their S/S items which are perfect additions to your wardrobe to mix and match with various items.

I can see myself wearing all these individual pieces throughout the season but I’d love to know what’s your spring staples?

Lotsa love,
