Travel essentials

To travel is to make a journey, typically of some length. However, there are certain items that make the journey a little bit more fabulous.

As you’re aware, I recently went on holiday (two posts on Mexico to come) and there were some key products, I couldn’t have left at home. Dubbed essentials for a reason, these items are definitely ones to pack for any upcoming summer getaways.

Firstly, we all love a big towel, but they take up so much room in the suitcase and then you still needs to pack a beach bag to host your hotel key, money, music device, phone etc. I can solve both those problems for you with one simple word, Vertty. With its unique shape, large size, lightweight material and waterproof zip up pocket, this towel is easy to pack and can fit those beach baking necessities.

Moisturisation is also key when travelling, particularly on long haul flights and in different climates. The range of lotions and hand creams from The Aromatherapy Co are simply divine and feel like silk on the skin. I packed their body wash (as often hotels only provide soap), their lotion for too many days in the sun and their hand cream which proved to be perfect on the plane. Another winner for plane travel and in fact days spent by the beach is ModelCo’s Replenishing Rose Mist which you can spritz on your face when it’s screaming for extra hydration and it leaves you feeling refreshed, relaxed and your makeup intact. It’s good enough for RHW!

Another beauty product that packs a moisturising punch while proving you with glowing, glistening skin is Loving Tan’s Picture Perfect Instant Body Makeup. It rubs on like a moisturiser with a hint of bronzer so you can look tanned without the sun damage. I trialled this on a sweaty night out in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico dancing and it stayed on throughout the night and washed off in the shower later that evening leaving me and my clothes squeaky clean.

For street wear that packs a punch, is uber comfortable and on trend you can’t go pass Vans. These leather slip ons went with all my casual daytime looks whether in cut off denim shirts or skater skirts, they added a touch of street style edge and were comfy enough for trekking round the ruins of Tulum or taking snaps in the markets throughout town.

Last but certainly not least, the comfortable (yet I can be seen by my friend who I’m sharing a room with underwear) award goes to Triangl. Their range is colourful, comfortable, supportive, cheeky and fun – all the things I hope for in an underwear brand but often struggle to find. I lived in this super cute set, which could potentially pass for bikinis (but they actually do bikinis too).

I enjoyed the freedom and maturity that came when packing for this trip. As opposed to long-haul trips I’ve taken overseas in the past where I had to pack the minimal essential in a backpack to last for six months globe-trotting, I was actually able to pack certain creature comforts from home that would assist me in looking and feeling my best.

Would love to hear what some of your travel essential items are? Lotsa love, LM X x
