After turning 30 and spraining my ankle, I have to admit I struggle on big nights out. Wearing any kind of heel is a struggle, so I’m a massive fan of incorporating glam pieces with casual counterparts.
Slinky and sexy is always a nice style to wear when you’re feeling confident in the way you look when you step out the door. If you’ve got something to wear of that variety but feel you don’t have the occasion, then teaming it with casual accessories is the perfect way to go. I recently came across this lilac shaded dress from Tobi – an LA based label, which has a multitude of affordable pieces that I’m loving. It was the perfect shade for me with the right amount of colour (we know how much I love a pastel hue) – but being able to wear it as a day time look meant I’d have to incorporate a few street wear pieces.
Combining this sleek bodycon style dress with Stan Smith sneakers or beige slides (see these from Tobi), black Dior sunglasses (similar here) and jewellery in silver tones (like this wrap bracelet from Victoria Emerson) downplay the night-time feel of the main event of the outfit – the dress. Finally, the best way to bring a casual feel to any outfit is simply tying a denim shirt around your waist. It breaks the outfit up and gives it a pure streetstyle feel.
Why not give it a go? Bring a day time look to your next evening outfit and share in the fun with me.
Lotsa love, LM xx
